A Dollar For Scale by Dave Dyment and Roula Partheniou is a boxed set of cards, each featuring a different coin value (nickel, dime, penny, etc.) paired with an everyday object for scale. Together, the values on all the cards add up to one dollar for the complete deck.
A Dollar For Scale was shown in their exhibition: A is For Apple. Loosely modelled after a Montessori classroom, the exhibition features works that take the form of games, puzzles, books, building blocks, flashcards, and other teaching aids. Elemental units such as numbers, letters, and basic shapes are mobilized as conceptual tools to parse how patterns both structure our thinking and emerge from it.
